Title:  try not to tremble

Composer:  Joe Raposo ?

Lead vocals:  Judy Graubart

Backing vocals:  none

Scene:  Judy as an extremely reluctant trapeze artist.

[JG]  They call me the daredevil damsel Louise,

But all I can do when I see a trapeze

Is try not to tremble.

Try not to tremble.

The audience is waiting to see my first trick,

But frankly the thought of it worries me sick.

I’ll try not to tremble.

Try not to tremble.

I’d love to give them what they’re longing for,

But all I can do when I look at the floor

Is stand here and shiver.  My lips start to quiver.

They think I’ll take flight, but ye gods, I’m uptight!

They call me the daredevil damsel Louise,

But all I can do when I see a trapeze

Is try not to tremble.

Try not to tremble.

I stand here quite frozen as some start to snore.

The rest get unruly and stomp on the floor.

My head’s spinning faster.  I’m just a disaster.

I can’t stand the sound.  Get me back on the ground!

The people all look like they’re ready to kill.

If the audience doesn’t get me, then the vertigo will,

But I’ll try not to tremble.

Try not tremble.

Try not to tremble now.
